Buying a used mobile, especially in Pakistan, can be a bit stressful because you know that the phone you’re buying has been used by some other person (or persons), which leaves the condition of the device up in the air. It can cause a lot of distress because you don’t want to buy a device whose components are either damaged or have been replaced with fake ones.
That’s why it’s vital to keep an eye out for a few things that can help you decide whether or not you should buy that particular user’s device. Not so long ago, I bought a used iPhone 12 Pro, and I first checked the physical market where I implemented all of these techniques. So, without any more chit-chat, let’s dive in.
Things to Know Before Buying a Used Mobile in Pakistan
As I said before, I’ve personally used all of these methods when buying a used mobile, and they’ve all helped me determine whether or not I should buy it. Granted, I bought my used iPhone 12 Pro from an online store Wise Market Pakistan but more on that later. You can really benefit from the following:
- Check the display: One of the very first things you need to check when buying used phones is its display. Look for cracks, scratches, or discoloration to indicate wear and tear. It will tell how worn out the screen is. Additionally, also make sure that the screen hasn’t been replaced or opened by pressing on the 4 corners of the screen. Also, grab hold of an icon and drag it around the screen. It’ll help find out any dead spots on it.
- Test all buttons and functions: Ensure that all buttons are working, including volume controls, power buttons, home buttons (if any), etc. Test all features and functions, including the camera, speakers, and Bluetooth connectivity. If any of these things are acting up, then stay clear from the device.
- Check for water damage: We all, at some point in our lives, have dropped our phone in water, so make sure to check the phone closely for any signs of water damage, such as rust or discoloration around ports and buttons. If there are any of these signs, then that’s not the phone for you.
- Make sure the phone is empty: When buying a used phone, there can sometimes be old data from the previous user on it. That’s why always make sure that the phone is completely empty and has been reset to its factory settings.
- Check the battery life: Fully charge the phone and then use it for a while, such as playing games or watching videos, to test its battery life. Make sure that it can hold a charge long enough to give you several hours of usage. Most of the time, old batteries tend to degrade over time, especially if the phone is more than 2 years old. If you’re buying a used iPhone, then make sure that the battery health of the phone is more than 80% because any lower than that will affect its performance.
- Test the speaker volume: Make sure that the speakers are loud enough for you to hear properly when making calls or listening to music. If there are any issues like the sound being choppy, then don’t for that used or refurbished mobile phone.
- Look for updates: Check if any software updates are available for the device and make sure that all applications are running without issue. You don’t want any compatibility issues with newer apps, so make sure all the software is up to date.
- Research any past repairs: If the phone you’re buying is second-hand or a refurbished mobile phone, then ask the seller if they have had to repair or replace any components in the past and inquire about the quality of these repairs. This way, you get to know which parts of the phone are original and which of them are facing issues.
Conclusion
Overall, there are a lot of issues when it comes to buying used mobiles like a used iPhone 12 Pro Max or used Samsung mobile phones, but if you follow these instructions accurately, then you’ll be able to distinguish between any issues.
As I said before, I bought mine from Wise Market Pakistan, but the phone which I received was in amazing condition.
