Roasted Nuts : Maple Glazed Mixed Nuts Recipe, Curried Pecans Recipe, and Tamari Almonds Recipe

Are you as fond of nuts as I am? I keep a stash of seeds and raw nuts in my freezer. I make granola, trail mixes, and snacks using nuts I have roasted. I also make nut butter and flour from my stash. I’m not sure if there are any nut varieties that I don’t like. I might be allergic to some imitation nuts. Tiger nuts are a mystery to me. However, I do know of allergy sufferers who love them.

Every 2 weeks, I make Paleo Granola. We have it with yogurt and fresh fruit for breakfast. This is baked in my oven. The process takes between 45 and 60 min, with stirring about every 15 minutes. It is time-consuming but well worth it.

Over the weekend, I tried roasting nuts in my air fryer for my granola. I was skeptical that the nuts would remain still in the midst of all the air moving around in the fryer. Popcorn, for example, flies all over the place and gets stuck in my heating element. This also happens with small pepitas.

The trick to keeping nuts stable in an air fryer is to soak them in water or to coat them with fat or liquid sweetener. It will make it easier to digest nuts if you soak them in water for at least an hour before roasting or air-frying.

Three Roasted Nut Recipes

The best air fryer India can be used to roast or dehydrate nuts. They can be roasted in a matter of minutes. Dehydrating them can take many hours. These recipes can be used to roast nuts in an oven fryer. Maple glazed mixed nuts are used to make granola and trail mix. I also included a recipe for granola.

Curried pecans are the second recipe. For the winter and fall holidays, I love to make spiced or curried nuts. They are placed in small bowls throughout the house so guests and family can enjoy them before dinner.

This is the third recipe for tamari-coated almonds. The bulk bins of nuts and dried beans were my first time shopping in a health food shop. Because they were unusual and delicious, I brought home a lot of tamari nuts. Because I hadn’t had brown rice before, I think I bought too much.

You can double the recipe and then air dry it in two batches. Nuts are best fried in one layer.

Air Fryer Maple Glazed Nuts (Paleo. Gluten-Free. Vegan).

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup raw almonds
  • 1/3 cup raw cashews
  • 1/3 cup halves of raw walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 tsp grapeseed oil or another mild oil
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Sea salt – pinch

Total time:12 minutes – Prep:2 minutes – Cooking time:10min – Serves 4 people

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the nuts and sugar. Toss the nuts with syrup, oil, and vanilla. Add the salt and cinnamon. Toss again. This is it.
  2. 3. Heat your air fryer to 325°F for three minutes.
  3. Place the chopped nuts in one layer on the platter or in the basket. Set the timer for 10 minutes and close the bucket. After 6 minutes, shake or stir the bucket to turn the nuts. Cook for 4 more minutes.
  4. To check for crunch and doneness, test the nuts. To make them even crispier, place the nuts on a sheet pan or a cutting board.
  5. Keep it in an airtight container for several days or even weeks.

Grain-Free Granola (Paleo Gluten-Free, Vegan, Gluten-Free)

To toast pepitas, you can purchase them already toasted. The pepitas can be toasted in an air fryer or Morphy richards OTG. However, if they are too large, you may need to place them in a bucket and not in a basket or on Tupperware. They stayed put in the bucket under the crisper plate to ensure they didn’t move around. It worked. Toast them at 325°F until they begin to bubble.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup maple glaze, roasted, mixed nuts (see the recipe above).
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened, toasted coconut shreds/flakes
  • 1/2 cup toasted pepitas (small pumpkin seeds)
  • 1/3 cup sugar-free dried fruits, such as blueberries, cherries, and raisins
  • Optional: Pinch of Stevia Powder

Total time: 5 minutes – Prep: 5 minutes – Serves 6

Directions

  1. You can chop the roasted nuts into small pieces that you can eat with a spoon. They can also be pulsed a few times in the food processor.
  2. 2. Place the nuts into a large bowl. Add the coconut, pepitas, and dried fruits. Mix well and then taste. Add a bit of stevia powder if the granola isn’t sweet enough.
  3. The granola can be kept in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Serve the granola with almond milk, yogurt, and fresh fruit.

Air Fryer Curried Pecans (Gluten-Free)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped raw pecan halves
  • 1 TBS melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar (optional, omit for Paleo or Keto).

Total time 12 minutes – Prep time 2 min – Cook time 10 min – Serves 4

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the nuts and butter. Stir in the butter. Toss in the butter, curry powder, salt, sugar, and mix again.
  2. 3. Heat your air fryer or microwave oven to 325°F for three minutes.
  3. Place the seasoned nuts on a single layer on the crisper plate or in the basket. Set your timer to 10 minutes, close the bucket or door, and lock it. After 6 minutes, shake or stir the bucket to turn the nuts. Cook for 4 more minutes.
  4. To check for crunch and doneness, test the nuts. To make them even crispier, place the nuts on a sheet pan.
  5. Keep it in an airtight container for several days or even weeks.

Air Fryer Tamari Almonds (Gluten-Free and Vegan)

This recipe calls to use liquid aminos or tamari, both of which are gluten-free. These soybeans are not Paleo-compliant and should not be used in a Keto diet. Coconut aminos can be substituted if you need dietary compliance. They will be slightly sweetened.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1-1/2 TBS of wheat-free tamari or other liquid aminos
  • Vegetable oil spray

Total time 15 minutes – Prep time 5 min – Cook time 10 min – Serves 4

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the nuts and the milk. Stir in the tamari. Allow the mixture to rest for a while so that the almonds can absorb it.
  2. 3. Heat your air fryer to 325°F for three minutes.
  3. Apply a light coating of vegetable oil to the basket or plate. Place the soaked nuts on a single layer in the basket or on the crisper plates. Set the timer for 10 minutes and close the bucket. After 6 minutes, shake or stir the bucket to turn the nuts. Cook for 4 more minutes.
  4. To check for crunch and doneness, test the nuts. To make them even crispier, place the nuts on a sheet pan.
  5. Keep it in an airtight container for several days or even weeks.

You can change or mix the nuts. In the maple glaze recipe, you could use hazelnuts to replace almonds. In the granola recipe, you can substitute pepitas with sunflower seeds. In the curry recipe, you can substitute walnuts for pecans.
