Heavy-duty drawers are designed to store kitchen wares and garage tools. These industrial sliders are used to store files and power tools in factories.
Many people are afraid of DIY, especially those who are interested in it. The Heavy Duty Drawer Slides have been designed to be easy to install. This innovation is a benefit to both professionals and amateur carpenters. Installing heavy-duty slides is easy with modern tools and simple-to-follow directions.
What Is A Heavy-Duty Slide?
What is heavy duty about a drawer slide? Heavy-duty drawer slides can carry heavyweight loads and provide horizontal mobility for easy access. Heavy-duty drawer slides are capable of supporting 170 lbs. They can withstand thousands upon thousands of sliding cycles and exceed their load capacity.
A heavy-duty drawer slide has many aspects. These dimensions and features will determine which heavy-duty drawer slides are best suited for your application.
The Length Of Travel
Heavy-duty drawer rails are available in a variety of lengths. The space required for installation and load will be affected by the length of the industrial drawer slides.
The Drawer Width
For drawer slides to be supported and moved, the width of the drawer must also be considered. To ensure that heavy-duty sliders work properly, drawers should not exceed 3ft in width.
Location It Is Installed
The location of the heavy-duty drawer slides will determine how they support the drawer. Side-mounted drawer slides are best for drawer support and load.
Other Features
You can specify the application of heavy-duty, roller-bearing slides to meet your custom requirements. There is a special coating if the drawer slides are intended for indoor or outdoor use.
Guide For Installing Heavy-Duty Drawer Slides
Here is the step-by, illustrated guide to installing them.
Step 1 – Disassembly And Alignment
The furniture can be disassembled by installing the drawer slides. Make sure the dimensions of the drawer and slot are correct according to the orientation in which the drawer slide is to be placed.
Take a tape measure and a carpenter’s square. Mark with a pencil where the screws holes and notch are for heavy-duty drawer rails. For exact measurements, refer to the instructions.
Step 2 – Cut Notches And Drill Screw Holes
Once you have taken your measurements, mark the locations where you will drill holes and notches. Now it is time to place the pilot holes and cut notches for the locking mechanism and railings. Double-check your measurements with a combination or carpenter’s ruler. Next, drill the pilot holes and then use the right size drill bit to drill.
Use a saw to make the drawer notches at back. This will create clearance for slide rails. Smoothen it using sandpaper or a file. The drawer slide installation template or jig makes drilling holes and cutting notches much easier.
Step 3 – Fasten Drawer Slides & Locking System
Attach the locking mechanism to your drawer using screws in their appropriate positions. Next, attach the drawer slide into the drawer slot using screws. Use a flathead screwdriver with a flat bit or a power drill with a flat screwdriver bit. Before you secure it tightly, make sure to check the alignment and level.
Step 4 – Final Adjustments & Insert Drawer
After aligning the drawer slide and fittings, insert the drawer. Push the button until you hear a click. This means that the locking mechanism is engaged with the heavy-duty slide rails.
