How To be Most Effective and Increase Productivity During your Work Day

There are a lot of different definitions of what productivity is and ways on how to improve it. Essentially, it’s a way of measuring efficiency and  in recent years it has become a very important topic and something that people want to be better at every single day

The main productivity is getting everything done with satisfying results with less time and effort. Managing your time in ways that are conducive to your productivity is the key, but sometimes it can be difficult to understand where to actually start.

The principles presented here can help guide you through your workday.

Multitasking

Even though doing a couple of tasks at once might look easier and faster, it should be avoided because it simply does not work. We are often fooling ourselves when we think we can juggle a couple of things like meeting presentations, messaging and eating at the same time. One task at a time will actually help finish everything in time and much faster.

Effortless work efficiency

Anyone in back-to-back meetings until 5pm knows how hard it is to stay productive these days. Instead of just staring down at your to-do list every evening, attack the root of the problem.

The best solution to this problem would be a centralized location to track your work and help your entire team lift up their productivity. You can organize all your work in one cloud based work OS. It is a simple and easy-to-use tool that people enjoy using every day. If you feel ready to take that step find out more here.

List your “crucial results” for the day

These are the objectives that have to be accomplished every day in order to move your projects and goals forward, so making a list out of those will definitely help.

Create a spreadsheet listing your top 3 crucial results for each day and organize them in a way that makes sense to you.

Conquer procrastination by ‘’Two-minute rule’’

If there is a task or a goal that you know can be done in two minutes, do it. Or at least start it, since that is the first step to accomplishing it even if it takes more than 120 seconds. To use the 2-minute rule successfully, you should schedule time to get your to-do list for the day in order.

Set Realistic Goals

We always have a goal or goals in our mind that we would like to achieve. So by setting goals we will work towards achieving them and improving our productivity and therefore we will be focused and consistent in our work.

The goals should always be clearly defined, realistic, challenging and above all meaningful.

Take care of the biggest tasks when you’re most alert

We will sometimes push aside some of the tasks that are important and when we are not very confident about finishing them. Most challenging tasks should be the ones that are done first, it is just important to get started with them. Once you get started, you will quickly find your flow and get that task out of your way.

Quit Social Media

Quitting social media isn’t easy since there is a constant fear that we will miss out something and the thought of being ‘out of touch’ feels a bit strange. However, what it will do is help increase your productivity as you’ll have less ways to procrastinate since there’ll be no news feeds to aimlessly scroll through or grids to check out.

Take breaks

People usually think that working long hours without taking any breaks will get more work done, but being burned out will not really help us improve our productivity. Taking regular breaks help improve concentration and also boosts the mood. Thus, taking just a five-minute break and doing something that is unrelated to work will help with improving the performance.

In the end not every day at work will be perfectly productive, and it is fine, so refocus your energy and try to implement some of the tips mentioned above.
