Windows 10 has some big features and it’s easy to worry about the performance. One of them is how much ram is used, where you start with 1 GB and you’re only allowed to grow it to 4 GB or 64 GB after which you must upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. The question How much Ram does Windows 10 use? is quite common.
Here’s how much ram is used under Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016, in a very simple blog post.
In the Windows 10 installation, if you want to upgrade your operating system to Windows 10 Pro, then you need a 64-bit edition of Windows 10 Pro, so you need 1 GB of ram in order to use 64-bit boot capabilities. Best PC Design Store is a platform. It gives information about pc.
If you want to go back to 32-bit boot capabilities, then you need 2 GB of ram in order to use 32-bit boot capabilities.
How much ram do you need?
Different Windows versions have different requirements for RAM but you can find out by using this link and the command:
How much ram does windows 10 use?
If you upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, then you’re going to need at least 4 GB of ram in order to be able to use 64-bit boot capabilities. This means that in Windows 10 you will have 512 MB (now we know 1 GB) or 1 GB, then you will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, which means you will also be able to use up to 4 GB of ram.
If you don’t upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, then you will be limited to 2 GB of ram in order to use 32-bit boot capabilities in Windows 7 and Windows 8. x.
But what if you’re running 64-bit? What about 2 GB of ram? How much ram will you need if you upgrade?
Again, different Windows versions require different amounts of ram and you can find this information here at http://www.windows.com/en-us/windows-10-features. The Windows 7 performance section says:
Windows 7 requires 1 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 8 requires 2 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 8.1 requires 4 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 10 requires 4 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 10 Pro is 4 GB RAM or more
Depending on what features you want to use, the Windows 10 performance page says the same for the different Windows versions:
Windows 7 requires 1 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 8.1 requires 2 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 8 requires 4 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
Windows 10 requires 4 GB of RAM to install 64-bit
In general, it appears that the more features you are going to want to use, the more RAM you need. Also the more RAM you will need, the more expensive your computer will be. It’s always important to remember that the more RAM you use, the longer the boot process will be.
I try to explain to you How much Ram does Windows 10 use?
But there are times when Windows 10 is “just” good enough.
We are using Windows 10 on our laptop with 1 GB of ram and when we are using the basic desktop features of Windows 10, it’s not using that much RAM at all. If you want to use more features, then you can bump the RAM up to 2 GB of ram and when you upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, you will be able to upgrade to 4 GB of ram, which we are not going to upgrade, but you could.
We’re interested in some user experience topics, like what we can do with Windows 10 on our laptop, so we’ve not upgraded the RAM, it’s using 1 GB of ram so we are happy. But in general, it appears that Windows 10 on your laptop isn’t going to use much RAM, which means the boot process will be fast and it will just be a fast laptop.
As of writing, we have not upgraded the RAM, but if we upgrade our laptop to Windows 10 Pro, we’ll be able to upgrade to 4 GB of ram which will give us more freedom with the kinds of features we can use and the speed at which we can do our work.
How much RAM is needed to run Windows 10 in tablet mode?
As a tablet user, you want to have enough RAM on your computer to be able to use your Windows 10 tablet experience. Also if you’re reading this post, you will probably be looking for Windows 10 reviews for your tablet. Some of those reviews mention that Windows 10 doesn’t need 2 GB of ram to run properly in tablet mode, which is something you may be interested in.
It’s sometimes also possible to boot Windows 10 in tablet mode from your primary computer with 1 GB of ram.
Microsoft says that there are some Windows 10 apps that work better in tablet mode, or on an actual tablet, than on a laptop. The exact effect of this is up to you, but if you have a Windows 10 tablet you want to use with Windows 10, then you may want to increase the RAM that is needed to run in tablet mode.
Remember though that with 2 GB of ram, you’ll have to wait longer to get to the main Windows 10 desktop.
If you are upgrading to Windows 10, then remember to keep your existing Windows 7 system. Windows 7 may be sufficient if you want to use your computer as your primary computer.
